the new leesburg

I can see the greed in their weasel-lawyer eyes. They await the Winchester boom with foaming mouths and sweaty hands. Soon, yes, soon! My lovely little town will explode into a cheap construction nightmare. McMansions and shitty shopping centers will abound and they will be happy because it will mean more cold cash in their pockets. I can see it now.....the endless, unimaginative apartment complexes crowding the highways. I love little Winchester, even though there are more than a few people I wish I could avoid on the streets. The politicians say they want slow growth, but they say that just to get elected. Another gigantic Wal-Mart in a city this size is not slow growth. It's money.

Why do people have to be so greedy? Nothing is ever enough. They want and want and want and will never be sated. I just want to live in a little green bubble of nature art love kitties genuine honest-to-goodness nice people. Where are they anymore?

Well, it has yet to explode Leesburg-style. I, of course, have my fingers crossed that it won't but I know that's wishful thinking.

I'm not sure that I would say that it has yet to explode like Leesburg, because as it stands Leesburg has MORE of a small-town (a little run-down, albeit) than Winchester does anymore. Leesburg has only TWO McDonald'ses. Think about that.

Agh, true. Well, yet to explode in the same way.

I would rather have trees and countryside than good shopping.
